GOHSEP: Governors Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness

GOHSEP works with local, State, Tribal and Federal authorities; private-sector partners; and private nonprofits (PNPs) so that we prepare for, prevent, respond to, recover from and mitigate against future emergencies and disasters.

Bureau of Community Preparedness

Per the State's laws governing emergency response, LDH is the agency primarily responsible for Emergency Support Function (ESF) 8, Public Health & Medical Services, after a disaster. The Bureau of Community Preparedness leads LDH's support in this area. LDH has many state, local and regional partners who assist in providing the public health response to a disaster.

The Bureau of Minority Health Access (BMHA)

The Bureau of Minority Health Access (BMHA) is a bureau that is within the Office of Community Partnerships & Health Equity. The BMHA works to minimize health disparities among underserved racial and ethnic populations in the Louisiana through collaboration, partnerships, and education. The Bureau collaborates and partners with a diverse group of organizational stakeholders and people, populations, and communities, dedicated to understanding and decreasing health inequities that specifically challenge minorities and underserved populations in Louisiana.

Office of Minority Health

The Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was created in 1986 as one of the most significant outcomes of the landmark 1985 Secretary's Task Force Report on Black and Minority Health. The mission of the Office of Minority Health is to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and programs that will help eliminate health disparities.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank is leading the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 700+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes.
